You might want to show off by making a new dish, but you should stick to something you know if the meal is important. Whether you are looking to impress a boss, the in-laws or a potential mate, it is not the time to be daring. It is much better to show off a meal that you have had success with before.
Boiling and other lengthy cooking methods strip vegetables of their important nutrients. If you want them to be healthier, try cooking them quickly by steaming or sauteing, or eat them raw!
Make repairs to your pie crust. By handling your pie dough too much, you might get some cracks. To make them disappear, sprinkle a few drops of cold water onto the spot, then using your fingertips, smooth the dough back together. If the top of the crust cracks, brush some milk on it and sprinkle it with sugar. After it gets baked, the crust will be beautifully glazed and the cracks will be hidden.
If you struggle to find time to make dinner every night, do some of your prep work the morning before. Cut up veggies, marinate your meat or make a sauce the night before. You won’t be as stressed when you prepare the meal the next day.
If you find yourself with leftover homemade sauce, freeze the leftovers in ice cube trays. When you’d like to make a quick and easy meal later on, you just have to pop out a few cubes of sauce and reheat them in a pan. Sauce cubes made this way are safe and will taste great!
There are several types of potatoes, and they are not all the same. There are some potatoes that are waxy and recommended for making boiled potatoes and potato salad but are not recommended for mashed potatoes, french fries or baked potatoes. For those applications, you want to use fluffy potatoes like Russets.
Use fresh ingredients instead of frozen or dried ones for your cooking for the best results. The more fresh ingredients you use in your cooking, the better your dishes will be. Fresh ingredients have more flavor, and are less costly than frozen and canned ingredients.
Learning to cook, and having fun with it at the same time, is as satisfying as eating. Follow these tips, and then add a little of your own flare. You’ll become a more accomplished chef and your food will be in high demand!Share
