My son, Horasyo Roy, and his family, left Tacloban on November 15, 2013 after surviving Typhoon Yolanda (see story here) on 8 November 2013.
One month after the devastation, on 8 December 2013, we are back in Tacloban. We share what we saw with the pictures below.
Right after deplaning, sad images were in front of us:
But seeing people hard at work in trying to help the victims rise f rom their knockdown warmed the heart.
And yet there just was no escaping from the pain. Everywhere there was destruction.
In our own dwelling, the wreckage was gross. I just did not know where to start picking up the pieces.
Back at downtown Tacloban, debris, trash and street vendors compete for space.
But close somewhere, the soul of the nation is up–as if telling everyone that Yolanda’s victims will rise again.
